Gina is absolutely outstanding! Her passion for what she does is clear in her energy, preparation, and thoughtful approach. She brings creative, practical ideas that truly makes a significant and positive impact. She communicates effectively with both faculty and parents to advovate and ensure meaningful accommodations are implemented for the child. I would not recommend navigating the ARD process alone, and Gina is truly one of the best. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking school accommodations. Never be afraid to ask for directions from someone who has been where you're going.

Alicia Tucker Advocate has well represented my child and my family's needs. Even when given barely a weekend to prepare for our case and 504, they, including Gina, were, in fact ready for this meeting on short notice, and well represented my child during a process that was bewildering and overwhelming. If I need such services in the future, I will definitely be contacting this organization to educate, advocate, and represent my child and family.

As a parent navigating the ARD/IEP process, I am so grateful we found Alicia Tucker's advocacy . She followed through on all expectations and handled the majority of the communication during the ARD meeting. She wasn’t afraid to question discrepancies in my child’s IEP and pointed out things I could have easily missed. I felt supported, prepared, and confident going into the meeting. I highly recommend her services!
FAQ's

FAQ'S

Special education advocates play a crucial role in helping children with ADHD navigate the educational system and receive the support they need to succeed. Here are some ways they can assist:  helping parents and guardians understand the rights of children with ADHD under special education laws such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the United States, guide families through the system, helping them understand the steps involved in securing appropriate services and accommodations for their child, help parents understand the purpose of the IEP, assist in developing appropriate goals and accommodations, and ensure that the child’s needs are being addressed effectively, ensure that the services and accommodations outlined in the IEP are being implemented effectively and make recommendations for adjustments if necessary and offer resources and information to families about ADHD including strategies for managing symptoms at home and school.

An Advocate may also provide referrals in the Katy area, such as psychologists or occupational therapists, who can provide additional support.

If you have a child with an emotional disturbance in the Katy area, you need to know that the IEP should be reviewed annually to update goals and make sure your child is getting the support that’s needed. However, IEPs can be changed at any time on an as-needed basis.

One way to find an advocate in Katy is to ask other parents with special needs children.  A parent can also log on to the COPAA (Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates) to find an advocate. Lastly, many advocates can be found on the internet. However it is important that you find an advocate that you are comfortable with and feel like will best represent you and your child.

An IEP is a legally binding document that outlines the educational goals, services, accommodations, and modifications that a student with a disability will receive in order to access and make progress in their education. The meeting is an opportunity for everyone involved in the student’s education to collaborate, discuss the student’s strengths and needs, and determine the most appropriate educational plan.

During the meeting, participants typically discuss the student’s current academic and functional levels (PLAAFP), review any assessments or evaluations, set goals for the upcoming year, and determine the specific services, accommodations, and supports that will be provided to help the student achieve those goals. The meeting also provides an opportunity for parents to ask questions, express concerns, and provide input into their child’s educational program.

IEP meetings are required by law for students who receive special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the United States, and they typically occur at least once a year, although additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
